Making art is a joy.

I was getting into an artsy mood which is the best kind of mood to be in, as it gets my creative juices flowing, I sat down on the table and just started making something abstract. I took the colours green and purple and a little bit of blue and made lines and free flowing brush strokes going the opposite way and mixing all those colours, turning them into kind of grey. I broke from my artsy mood and asked myself, now look what you have gone and done, the painting is ruined! Now what to do? I shook my head a few times and took a deep breath and told myself it isn’t ruined just think of something creative and it will turn this into a masterpiece. I remind myself time to time of what mako said in her video of mandala; Makoccino is a YouTube channel that has painting and Diy tutorials.
This is what she said: We often stress ourselves over the end result of our painting or any work, not enjoying the process of the painting and ruining it in that process. We should not stress on the end result but the process of making it. It doesn’t have to be a masterpiece it is a work of mind and creativity. And the most important thing is you enjoy what you are doing. (I changed her words when I tell myself but the thought is the same). Anyway, I let my painting dry and then took a marker and started drawing a half mandala. I didn’t made it to be exact and it was a little crooked on one side. But I didn’t care and then went ahead and created some spirals and doodled in them and created this painting. I loved it and told myself: didn’t I tell you? Don’t, I repeat don’t care about anything and let your creative juices flow.
Ps: In case you are wondering, this is exactly what mako said:
‘That we shouldn’t focus too much on the end result, but instead, we should focus on the process. Similar to life, we should just enjoy it and live to the fullest instead of worrying and overthinking every time. Instead of worrying it will mess up or the end result will look ugly, that people won’t like it, why don’t we just focus on the process of creating.’
You should check out her channel on YouTube if you love art like me.

Poem: Save Environment, It Saves us!

It is our duty to protect,
The environment at our best.
Be it a poor dolphin,
Or a little bird’s nest.

We need to protect them,
With all our might.
Those animals and trees,
Think of their plight.

If we help them,
They will help us,
Everyone will be,
Happy and bright.

So why not help the nature around?
Let’s plant lots of trees,
And help the animals
Save the land and mother nature,
The ocean and every creature.

It is our duty to protect,
The environment at our best.
That’s the best way to say
A HAPPY ENVIRONMENT DAY!

Say No To Crackers This Diwali

No crackers

Our India has many religions & traditions and not to forget the festivals; and as soon we talk of festivals, the word Diwali springs up. But there is a “but” in enjoying Diwali. Do you know why? Because I do not see the spirit of Diwali as it used to be. What do I mean? Let me explain.

Three years back, when I was 8 years old, we friends were discussing what we will be doing on the auspicious day of Diwali. One of my friend said, “I will go to the temple with all my cousins and family and then go to a restaurant to have dinner, then I will come back home late at night and leave for my village”. Another friend said, “I will make rangoli and burst lots of crackers”. When it was my turn I said, “I will help my mother in the puja preparations and will make lots of sweets too, then we will go and visit all my relatives and you know what, I am not going to burst any crackers this Diwali and onwards. I don’t want to harm Mother Nature”.

Then I asked my friends, “Will you too not burst crackers? At the mention of it, my both friends’ eyes plopped out, “what? Are you crazy, really?” They asked all kinds of questions to me-“Will you be even able to resist it?” asked my friend. I said, “Yes!” I was confident I could. When they saw me that confident one of them said, “We are not going to miss such an opportunity yaar! You do what you want but we are going to burst crackers. A lot of them. My father has already bought them.”

The other friend said nothing and just kept quiet. After playing for a while, when heading home in the lift she softly asked me, “You are not joking, are you?” I just said no, walked off to my home and went to sleep peacefully.

I am not bursting crackers for three years in a row. So you saw what I meant. But are the festivals destroying us or are we destroying their meaning? I read that in old times people used to make their own sweets, and there was no plastic packaging, everyone used to make their own rangoli powder with natural things and there was no toxic or chemical rangoli powders. They used lamps to light up the whole city and did not use artificial lamps and they did not burst crackers too, they just danced and sang and prayed. Above all they spent quality time with their family and friends. But today all people buy sweets and rangoli powder at the market. They use artificial lighting. And burst crackers too. They know all the disadvantages, but yet they choose to burst crackers. They know the crackers emit harmful gases; they could hurt somebody, create noise pollution, air pollution, water pollution & land pollution too.

After Diwali when I go to the playground, I see lots of plastic bags and boxes and packaging lying all around and no one bothers to pick them up until the garbage man comes and takes them away. We must spread awareness and celebrate a pollution free Diwali every year. We all are aware of the effects of pollution. Then why forget it on Diwali? We should not burst crackers and litter around. And keep our environment a happy and healthy one. As Gandhi Ji said, “Be the Change You Want to see in the World”. And we will be that change!

Book Review: YOUR TURN NOW!

book4Friends I want to tell you about a beautiful book published by Fun Ok Please:  ‘Your Turn Now’.

‘Your Turn Now’ is a book with small little blue cards which keep tugging onto your hearts till you pass the kindness around. This book has beautiful illustrations and stories of daily acts of kindness. Some of my favorite stories are the YTN merry go round, Small change Big change and Atithi devo bhava.

The message of the book is: Spread the kindness.
The kindness kit helps me a lot and I love the cards too.  I take the cards along with me wherever I go, hoping to pass the kindness around.

your turn 2This book inspires thousands of hearts to be super heroes of kindness. But is it a bit small compared to the population of the world? Oh yes, it is. The future of our world lies in our hands; we need to spread the kindness around to make our world a peaceful one and take the responsibilities and make it even better for the world, us and our future generations.

We all know, helping others and the poor and needy, means serving god himself.

This concept is by Rushab Turakhia, written by Lubania Bandukwala, illustrated and designed by Shraddha Pimputkar and edited by Sakura Kagwade. Its price is Rs.199 and is worth all the kindness. It is published by Fun Ok Please. And is a must read for all , not only for kids.

I must say it is my favorite book. It is more than a book.

Let’s Make A Designer Fruit Plate

20141005_173653

Hello friends,

I am going to tell you how to make a M-seal leaf shaped plate.

Take a bowl & turn it upside down, put a leaf on top of it.

.20141005_135646

  • Apply M-seal on it.
  • For the base you can use a jar’s cap.
  • Then set another leaf on top.
  • After it is dry take both of the leaves off.
    paint it
  • Decorate it.
  • Make sure your leaf is large enough to make your plate. I made this in autumn with dry leaves.

Poem: Best :-) :-) Friends

When you are with a best friend,

you are filled to the brim with lots of pleasure.

When you are with a best friend,

you feel the moment’s a great treasure.

friendships never end with a best friend.

in friendship there is no obstacle between us,

friendship can be a plus but not a minus.

friendships between best friends cannot be destroyed,

even by a comet or a meteoroid.

when you are with a best friend,

you are filled to the brim with lots of pleasure.

when you are with a best friend,

you feel the moment’s a great treasure.

Pleasure of giving handmade gifts.

It was my friend’ s birthday yesterday & I gave her a bag painted by me, I also gave her a poem , written by me on friendship.

I painted the bag & decorated it with glitter & wrote “best friends forever” under the painting.

2015-02-28 18.14.08

What ever you do, the thing which is important is you made it.

If somebody would give me a gift made by self, even if it is not so perfect, I would be very happy.

I also made an envelope in which I put the poem.

I think, our feelings are more important than the gift.

Tell me which is more important ? A very luxurious  gift given with no love or a simple gift given with lots of love? Of course you know the answer.

So what are you waiting for? Go & make gifts for your friends with a smile & you will be showered with even more smiles.
